Dr. Taylor is an Associate Research Scientist at PIRE. During his undergraduate training at Virginia Commonwealth University, he conducted ethnographic research at an inner-city elementary school. As a graduate student, he conducted experimental research on the use of social stereotypes during group decision making and on the development, maintenance, and change of social stereotypes. He maintains a broad range of interests including health psychology, cross-cultural psychology, stereotype change, and applied social psychology. At PIRE, he has worked on an analysis of the CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey to explore suicide risks associated with multiple-problem youth; this research was funded by NIMH. He is working on a project funded by NIAAA that explores social and environmental factors associated with rioting and binge drinking that often accompany national college sports events. In addition to his work at PIRE, Dr. Taylor is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland where he teaches cross-cultural psychology.
