Evaluating the Geography of Medical Cannabis Facilities on Crime, Price and Use

Proposal Abstract
Dr. Gruenewald will assist with the development and design of the premise, price and portal surveys and supervise the staff and subcontract at the Prevention Research Center of Pacific Institute for Research & Evaluation. In subsequent years, he will provide expertise and assist in development of longitudinal Bayesian space-time models, assist in data analysis, write manuscripts, and disseminate findings at conferences Mr. Ponicki will assist with the development and design of the premise, price and portal surveys, assist in conduct of Bayesian space-time models to accomplish all study aims and in subsequent years assist in the preparation, writing and submission of project manuscripts Ms. Remer will acquire archival data and develop the geographic information system (GIS) for the project, assemble analytical datasets for use in conjunction with project collected survey data, support Bayesian space-time model development, prepare project maps for presentation and publication, and assist in the preparation, writing, and submission of project manuscripts. Scott Martin will supervise data collection, act as the go-between with the medical marijuana dispensaries and the research team. He will code survey instruments onto the palm pilots and develop web-based data collection systems, conduct preliminary data analysis for quality control of data, and supervise the Sacromento data collectors.
