Dr. Waller is a Research Scientist at PIRE. She received her Ph.D. in Maternal and Child Health with a minor in Epidemiology from the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005 and her M.A. in Social and Experimental Psychology from New Mexico State University in 1999. Dr. Waller was a Fellow in the Maternal and Child Health-Public Health Leadership Institute (MCH-PHLI). This prestigious Fellowship is a year-long leadership development program targeted to upper-level leaders in State Title V programs, family advocacy, and other organizations that work on behalf of and promote healthy families, particularly the maternal and child health populations in the US and its territories. She has served as the lead evaluator for all prevention programming funded through the New Mexico Office of Substance Abuse Prevention for the past 7 years including CSAP grant and SAPT block grant funded prevention programming. She is currently the lead evaluator for the NM Partnerships for Success II grant from CSAP. She is currently a co-evaluator for the SPF SIG National Cross-Site Evaluation and previously participated in multiple related evaluations including the NM and NC SPF SIGs, the NM SPE. In addition, she was a contractor with Indian Health services providing evaluation TA and training to 11 HB/DP sites. She completed an NIAAA funded R03 examining the association between alcohol outlet density, drinking patterns and IPV. Her interest in research exploring the effect of environmental characteristics associated with risk behavior and environmental-level prevention strategies reflect her ability to translate research into practice.
