Principal Investigator: Les BeckerSponsor: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) (9/16/2003 - 7/15/2008) Proposal Abstract The goal of this project is to develop and field test a curriculum for motorcycle riders that emphasizes peer intervention in the context of discouraging and preventing drinking and riding. To do this, PIRE will develop and pilot test a curriculum designed to impress upon participants the importance of peer intervention, as well as provide them with information, techniques, and tools to aid them in intervention.
Once the curriculum has been developed and pilot tested it will be given a large scale State-wide implementation, and effects of the program on alcohol-involved motorcycle crashes will be analyzed.
