Dr. Mark Johnson is a Senior Research Scientist at PIRE. His portfolio of research is eclectic, focusing on impaired-driving studies that range from laboratory experiments, high-ecological validity field tests of interventions, and analytic studies using secondary data; to epidologically prevalece studies, and evaluations of large-scale community interventions. His study topics have ranged from the effects of enforcement programs, the role of normative influence, the presentatin of risk information, and decision-making processes, all on drinking-and-driving behavior. Since receiving his docorate in 2002, he won six awards from the National Institute for Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and four from the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration. Dr. Johnson has also served as senior analyst on a number of NIH projects, specializing in the use of generalized linear mixed modeling within complex experimental designs.
