Helaine
Thau is a licensed clinical psychologist with a doctoral
degree in Clinical Health Psychology (California School
of Professional Psychology, 1998). Dr. Thau has been
practicing as a clinical psychologist working in the
areas of assessment and treatment. Dr. Thau evaluates
the cognitive, educational and neuropsychological development
of children and adolescents at Vista Del Mar/ Reiss
Davis in Los Angeles, a facility dedicated to treating
at risk youth. She also evaluates patients with traumatic
brain injury at UCLA for a research grant evaluating
the impact of traumatic brain injury on executive functioning
and behavior.
Past
research interests include breastfeeding in adolescent
mothers, drug use in adolescent mothers, and the impact
of maternal breast cancer on adolescent sons. Her current
research involves evaluating the impact of media exposure
on adolescents in California.
