Research Scientist
Deborah
Fisher is an Associate Research Scientist in the Calverton,
Maryland office of the Pacific Insitute for Research
and Evaluation. She received her doctorate in psychology
from the University of Texas at Austin and has been
with the Institute since 1991. She is currently directing
the three annual content analyses of sexual talk and
behavior in television programming as part of the Adolescent
Sexuality and Television project.
She
is also working on several projects in the areas of
impaired driving, youth violence, the incidence and
costs of childhood injuries, and changes in tobacco
retailer compliance with youth access laws. Her areas
of interest regarding child and adoloescent health include
youth smoking; college drinking and consequences; and
alcohol use, media effects, and sexual risk-taking.
